TAMANDUA & BRIKI: SHIBARI MASTERCLASS – TORMENTING KINBAKU

With the SHIBARI MASTERCLASSES we present excellent contemporary shibari artists from Europe
and beyond to the advanced shibari community in Zurich. For the first issue of this new series
by mids of July, we are very glad to invite TAMANDUA from Berlin, his approach being
“a mix between more ’classical’ erotic japanese semenawa (tormenting rope)
and the wildly deconstructed styles of some European riggers.”

Tormenting kinbaku can be a wonderfully beautiful intoxicating experience with someone you trust. How can we have intense sessions which feel both meaningful and safe – emotionally speaking as well as physically?

During this weekend Tamandua will share his approach to kinbaku, focusing on erotic torment where intensity is built up in a sculpting, progressive manner. We will learn a few specific ties with the intention of understanding them well, technically and appreciatively. They will be mainly based on a few classical techniques and harnesses. Attention will be in the details more than in big improvisation!

Most ties will be semi-suspension, not because it is easier but because it is the topic. A couple of full suspension positions may also be taught depending on the interest and level of the students. The tuition seeks to balance both top/rigger and bottom/model perspectives.

Joining as a model this weekend is Briki, a rope switch with deep knowledge of the body, originated in yoga and contemporary dance. The last few years, she has worked in the borderlands between performance art and the rope community. She is interested in power exchange, bottomhood, objectification, and the beauty of rope. In her rope life she is searching for sublime border states and sadomasochistic cooperations.

FURTHER INFORMATION

The weekend workshop is suitable both for shibari practitioners with prior experience of playing with suffering and torment in ropes, who want to expand their vision and skills as well as for practitioners new to this concept. However, you will need a certain experience level in tying overall to participate so please read through the requirements below!

REQUIREMENTS

• ability to tie a suspension suitable takate kote as this will be used in several of the ties during the class. Preferably a stemless version as this is what will be used by Tamandua during the demonstrations.
The separate Friday evening class will go over the TK that will be used over the weekend!

• ability to make, handle and lock suspension lines in an efficient and safe manner.

• these skills should have been taught by an instructor in real life and not with video tutorials or from books.

• those getting tied/the models should have prior experience of being in a takate kote. Couples should have experience tying together before doing the workshop together. Both those tying and being tied need to have basic knowledge around how to recognise and avoid nerve compression damage in shibari.

If you are unsure if the workshop will suit you, please contact us!

WHAT TO BRING
• at least 8 regular length jute ropes and 2-3 of variating shorter lengths.
• 1-3 cloths which can be used as a gag.

PRICES & SELLOUT
As a result of the Corona crisis, many people - and Tamandua and luhmen d'arc - suffered significant financial cuts, while others were earning well and could continue to draw their salaries. We would like to give low-earners the opportunity to continue to attend our events with the Soli-Tickets. For the upcoming events, we cordially invite high earners to support the low earners, Tamandua and luhmen d’arc with a higher contribution and thank you in advance for your understanding and solidarity. We are very much looking forward to future joint courses and events.

For PEOPLE WITH PARTICULARLY LOW INCOME - students, artists etc. - there may be the possibility for even lower prices upon request.

Is the event sold out at eventfrog? Write us! Maybe there is a waiting list or another possibility to participate.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Cancellations are free of charge up to eight weeks before the start of the course, up to four weeks before the start of the course a cancellation fee of 20% of the course fee is due, up to two weeks before the start of the course a cancellation fee of 50% is due. Later cancellations and refunds of participant fees are not possible. However, participants can find substitute participants who will take the booked places. In case of cancellation by the organizer, the course fee will be refunded in full. Further claims are excluded.

CORONA RULES & PROCEDURES

The official Corona rules allow sports and cultural events indoors again without participant number restriction, without distance requirements and without mask obligation. It is also not compulsory to show a corona certificate in order to participate. But as the pandemic is not yet over, we ask everyone who has not yet been fully vaccinated or recovered to test themselves before coming to the Bondage Jam and only to come if the result is negative.

However, the authorities still require the contact details of all participants to be recorded for the purpose of any necessary contact tracing, so that all visitors can be contacted by the authorities in the event of a subsequently verified infection of participants, so that they can be informed and, if necessary, ordered to undergo tests or quarantine. Please be aware of it to be likely that in the event of a positive case among the participants, the authorities would consider all people participating in the event as so-called "close contacts" and therefore send them into quarantine.

Because of the requested records of the contact data the ticket booking still has to be done via the online platform Eventfrog. There the submission of contact details - for each registered person separately - is mandatory. The collected data will be deleted 14 days after the event.

Visitors are requested to inform the organiser as soon as possible if Covid-19-typical symptoms occur or a SARS-CoV-2 test is positive within a period of 14 days after the event.
